Stenness farmer Arnold Mathers winner of the M&S Outstanding Producer award

Arnold Mathers from Tormiston Farm, in Stenness, has won the title of Outstanding Provider in the Scottish section of this year’s Farming for the Future awards.

The Mathers’ family farm, which has 110 beef cattle on 250 acres, was nominated as an outstanding producer for supplying quality beef to M&S.

When picking Tormiston Farm as a finalist for the regional competition, judges mentioned the use of the most-up-to-date technology being used to improve efficiency and sustainability as a reason for its selection.

The announcement was made as part of the first day of the Royal Highland show, at Ingliston showground, near Edinburgh, Mr Mathers will now go on to compete for the Champion of Champions Award.
