Stromness lifeboat called to stricken yacht
The Stromness Lifeboat was launched last night to go to the aid of a yacht which had lost its steering to the west of the Orkney Mainland.
The 23-metre vessel, Rona 2, was five miles north-west of Brough Head and had rigged its emergency steering. It was escorted by the lifeboat through Hoy Sound and into Stromness Harbour, where a coastguard team were ready to help the sailing boat moor.
The lifeboat was called out at 11.15pm and reached Stromness Harbour, with Rona 2, at 1.30am.
