“Technical fault” sees Kirkwall-bound flight return to Aberdeen
A flight bound for Kirkwall airport on Friday afternoon had to return to Aberdeen after it suffered a technical fault, with the pilots unable to deploy the plane’s flaps.
The flight departed Aberdeen for Kirkwall shortly after 4pm carrying three crew and 31 passengers
According to a Loganair, on the flight’s approach to Kirkwall a minor technical fault was discovered with the flap system and the captain elected to return to Aberdeen as the city’s airport has a longer runway.
The airline added: “A replacement aircraft was brought in to take the passengers on to Kirkwall. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our passengers for the inconvenience caused.”
