The stone age meets the digital world

A digital rendering of the interior of one of the houses.

It may have taken over 5,000 years — but now, Skara Brae is finally online.

Built five centuries before the Pyramids at Giza, Europe’s most complete Neolithiic village is one of Orkney’s most popular destinations. Now, thanks to Historic Environment Scotland (HES), it has been turned into a 3D digital model.

Available to view online, virtual visitors from anywhere in the world can now explore it’s ancient rooms and passageways from home.
