Transatlantic flavour to 2014 Folk Festival
Musicians representing eight countries and four continents are preparing to kick-start the Orkney Folk Festival this evening.
The festival, which is mainly set in Stromness has been billed as the most multinational line-up in the event’s 32-year history.
Award-winning broadcaster, Mark Radcliffe is also due to attend with the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show in tow. In between events, he will record a special programme from the festival, which will be aired at a later date.
Pub sessions, concerts, festival clubs and workshops are planned over the weekend, and highlights include the Transatlantic Gathering in Stromness on Saturday evening, and appearance from Aoife O’Donovan and Madison Violet.
