Two Orkney men receive honours
Two well known figures in the Orkney community have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours list.
Stromness historian Bryce Wilson – who worked in the museum service in Orkney for almost 30 years before retiring in 2003 – becomes an MBE for services to culture in Orkney.
Meanwhile, retired teacher Sandy Firth, from Kirkwall, has been awarded a BEM in recognition for his voluntary service in Orkney.
