Business as usual at Kirkwall Airport
Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) have given an update on the situation at its airports today, as the industrial action involving security staff continues.
Giving an operational update this morning, a HIAL spokesperson said: “It remains business as usual across the majority of HIAL airports today, with 10 of the 11 airports operating as normal. Only scheduled services between Dundee and Stansted are suspended today. All other services are scheduled to operate. There are no delays to flights due to strike action.
“Passengers intending to fly from one of HIAL’s airports today are reminded to arrive 15-20 minutes early for their flight and limit the amount of liquids and luggage they bring to the airport. We are grateful to passengers for their patience and co-operation.”
Security staff working for Airport Management Services Ltd (AMSL), voted to take industrial action for 48 hours starting at midday yesterday, Tuesday, after talks between HIAL and trade union Prospect failed to avert action.
