Orkney Manifesto Group welcomes prospective OIC candidate
The Orkney Manifesto Group (OMG) has welcomed a new party member and prospective future OIC candidate to its ranks.
Rachael King, who lives in Sandwick, is currently the chairwoman of the Stenness School Parents’ Council. Her role became high profile at the time councillors were discussing school closures as a possible scenario within the Tough Times, Tough Choices initiative.
OMG convener, Councillor Alistair Gordon described Ms King as a welcome and valuable addition to the party.
He said: “We look forward to having Rachael attend our regular meetings so that she can provide input into topical issues as well as assisting in formulating future OMG policy. Her input as a non-councillor member will bring its own perspective to our discussions.
“Rachael intends to stand for election under the OMG banner in three years’ time. In the meantime, her calm, carefully reasoned thoughts and ideas and suggested approaches to local political questions will be invaluable to us.”
