A weekend of Island Song
Orkney Singers are hosting two days of Island Song this weekend.
Supported by Scotland’s Islands, the weekend provides a rare opportunity for folk in Orkney to experience, first hand, songs from other islands and north of Scotland regions.
According to Sarah Jane Gibbon: “We have some of Scotland’s best singer/songwriters coming here to deliver a weekend of singing workshops and two evening concerts. Findlay Napier, Norrie MacIver, Shona Donaldson and Lise Sinclair are our visiting artists, and from Orkney we have Dave Morrison and the Song Shop Trio.”
As well as the weekend workshop, there will be a family concert in the St Magnus Centre tonight, Saturday evening, starting at 7pm. As this event is free for children under 16, organisers say it is a great chance for families to come and hear these amazing artists.
