Anger at ferry decision

Orkney MSP Liam McArthur reacted with anger today at the decision by SNP Ministers to extend its Road Equivalent Tariff scheme to all Scottish islands except for Orkney and Shetland, and to make the scheme permanent.

Commenting, Mr McArthur said: “For the SNP to feather their political nests like this is breath-taking. Any possible credibility Ministers had in claiming their so-called RET ‘pilot’ was anything other than the most blatant electoral bribe have been destroyed by this announcement.

“Such a shameless decision to extend the cheap ferry fare scheme to every Scottish island except those that had the temerity not to vote SNP in May, confirms that the SNP government is operating two separate ferry policies. For any national government to act in such a partisan and divisive manner is beyond reproach.”
