Appeal Launched for Orkney Panel Members
Children’s Hearings Scotland has issued a call for new volunteers in Orkney to help fill 560 Children’s Panel roles needed nationally in 2016.
The Children’s Panel, which is unique to Scotland, aims to improve outcomes for troubled or at risk children and young people who are in need of care or who have offended.
In its six-week recruitment campaign, Children’s Hearings Scotland, hopes to recruit individuals from a range of backgrounds, to ensure the system continues to offer the best possible support.
Men in particular are being urged to come forward, to ensure hearings have the right representation, as law requires both men and women to sit on each hearing.
Applicants must be age 18 or over and the deadline for applications is September, 30, 2015.
