Candidates confirmed for Orkney constituency

Five candidates have put their names forward to stand for the Orkney constituency in the Scottish Parliamentary Election in May.

The deadline for nominations for the poll closed at 4pm on Friday afternoon.

The candidates whose names will appear on the ballot paper on polling day are:

• Paul Dawson, Independent.

• Jamie Halcro Johnston, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

• Donna Heddle, Scottish National Party (SNP).

• Liam McArthur, Scottish Liberal Democrats.

• Gerry McGarvey, Scottish Labour Party.

Polling day is on Thursday, May 5.
