Care home decision was required by April 1

We regret that one of the dates in the report on this week’s story regarding on the council’s decision to upgrade the St Rognvald House care home is incorrect.

Orkney Islands Council was asked by NHS Orkney to make a decision on future care facilities in Kirkwall by April 1, and not April 21 as was reported.

A council statement said: “To enable NHS Orkney to submit a business case for a new hospital to the Scottish Government on time, special meetings of the policy and resources committee and full council were arranged in March as a matter of urgency to allow a decision on care facilities to be agreed before the April 1 deadline.”
