Cash boost for Orkney charity

Women’s Aid in Orkney has received £2000 from the STV Children’s Appeal to boost financial support for the local project.

The charity will use the grant to enhance the work of their Children & Young People’s Support Service.

The charity provides specialist support for women, children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse, and focuses on improving outcomes through the delivery of practical and emotional support.

Funding will also enable Women’s Aid Orkney to develop their peer support program, focusing on learning about healthy relationships, trust and respect, understanding inequality, disadvantage and citizenship.

The program will also provide opportunity for therapeutic group work to be developed to enable children and young people to explore issues that affect them as a result of their life experiences.
