Celebrating Scapa Flow . . .
The annual Celebrating Scapa Flow weekend kicks off today, Friday.
Events begin today at the St Magnus Centre in Kirkwall, with an evening of lectures introduced and chaired by Julian Branscombe of the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership.
On Saturday, a day of activities will take place in Hoy, starting with a walk to Wee Fea.
At 7.30pm, events take place at the Cromarty Hall, St Margaret’s Hope, where there will be an evening of song, ships and film, including The Tall Ships Visit to Orkney, and a much-anticipated performance by Sarah Jane Gibbon and Emily Turton, whose music forms the soundtrack to the Tall Ships film.
The final event, Scapa Flow – Above and Below the Waves, takes place on Sunday, at 2pm, when there will be a trip round Scapa Flow on the mv Graemsay.
