Charity calls for voters’ help to establish friendship network

The countdown is on for a People’s Millions vote, which could net Orkney £47,000 to  establish a friendship network for people who have learning disabilities.

ENABLE Scotland has been shortlisted to win funding from The People’s Millions — but because the winner will be chosen by public ballot, the charity is appealing for voters to back their campaign.

Appealing for votes, Jan Savage, assistant director, campaigns and membership at ENABLE Scotland, said: “At the heart of this proposed project is friendship — an essential part of people’s lives.

“A Friendship Network would be a vehicle for Orkney to be a truly inclusive community, and we encourage supporters to make this happen by picking up the phone on November 24.

“Time is ticking. Please take a minute out of your day to make these calls on November 24.”
