Check your care alarm

People in Orkney with community care alarms are being advised to check they are operating correctly if there has been lightning close to where they live.

Orkney Health and Care advises that people first check that their phone line is working and that they can make outgoing calls. They should then place a test call, using their care alarm, to the call centre that runs the service.

If there are problems, people are advised to get in touch with the Balfour Hospital switchboard on 01856 888000, or ask a friend, neighbour or family member to do this on their behalf.

The hospital switchboard will then notify the responder service.
