Climate activists stage Kirkwall protest
A human chain has been formed at Kirkwall’s sea wall, this Saturday afternoon, in a demonstration aiming to highlight the threat of climate change.
Orkney Climate Action has been set up to coincide with the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, which begins tomorrow, in a bid to spread environmental messages at an Orkney level.
Today’s protest at the Ayre Road aims to send a visual message to UK politicians and world leaders about the threat of rising sea levels, and the impact this may have on coastal communities like Orkney.
The creative demonstration involves a human chain waving blue banners to symbolise sea level rises.
