Coastguard called out for medical transfer
The Coastguard helicopter was back in operation in Orkney again last night, after being tasked to carry out the medical transfer of a patient from Sanday to Kirkwall.
A spokesman for Shetland Coastguard said that they were contacted to carry out the transfer on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service around 8.15 pm.
Kirkwall Coastguard Rescue Team were also called to Kirkwall Airport to assist with the transfer, with the chopper landing around 9.20pm.
This was the third time this week that the helicopter and rescue team have been called out to Orkney incidents.
