College wins funds for cut rate maritime courses

Funding from Skills Development Scotland’s energy challenge fund will allow Orkney College UHI to offer discounted – some up to 60 per cent – maritime training courses.

The latest boost of £75,000 follows on from £101,000 awarded in October last year.

The newly funded courses are aimed at mariners who want to boost their knowledge and employability, or land-based technicians who have expert understanding of their own working environment but need to learn about the intrinsic risks of working at sea.
