Cone-gratulations to sweetshop owners
Here’s a SCOOP to melt your heart.
A “sprinkle” of romance was in the air on Tuesday, as one of Orkney’s ‘sweetest’ couples tied the knot.
Alison and George Reid, of Sinclair’s Ice Cream and Sweet Shop, married just before 11am on Tuesday, at the Kirkwall Registry Office.
But they made sure they were not “choco-late” getting back to work — you can “sher-bet” they were back behind the counter of their sweet shop less than an hour after getting hitched.
Alison, 58, previously the operations manager at Peterhead Port, moved to Orkney last summer, and George, 65, who also worked for ports, have been living the dream since they took over the running of Sinclair’s Ice Cream Shop last September.
There wasn’t “hundreds and thousands” at the ceremony, but they had lots of friends waiting outside.
They had photographs taken outside St Magnus Catherdral, as the sun shone; it was truly “mint” to be. They then went back to work in their wedding attire! After all, this is the “busiest time of the season!”
The sweethearts, have been together for around five years and are planning a honeymoon in Tenerife in January, when the ice-cream trade has cooled down.
