Council published snapshot of Orkney’s arts community
The OIC has published a comprehensive guide to Orkney’s arts community for public comment.
Orkney’s Creative Landscape: An Arts Development Plan for Orkney 2012-15 is available at www.orkney.gov.uk. Hard copies are also available in the Orkney Library and Archive in Kirkwall, Stromness Library, the mobile libraries and in the council’s customer services office in Kirkwall.
OIC arts officer, Pam Beasant, said: “The plan summarises all the great arts groups and activities locally and gives an overview of the national picture, including information on the restructured Creative Scotland – formerly the Scottish Arts Council.”
She added: “As well as being an action plan for those involved in delivering arts activities, we do want it to be a useful resource for anyone who is new to the arts scene in Orkney or for anyone who is looking to work with arts groups. So we are interested to hear from anyone who feels there are gaps in the plan or who has ideas on how it could be improved.”
Comments should be made, by April 27, to pam.beasant@orkney.gov.uk or by writing to Arts Officer, Orkney Islands Council, School Place, Kirkwall KW15 1NY or by calling 873535.
