Councillors back reserve fund cash injection for housing
The council house building programme in Orkney looks set to continue with a recommended cash injection of £1.5 million from the local authority’s reserve fund.
The decision at Tuesday’s policy and resources committee meeting means that a further three housing projects look set to go ahead — 12 flats in Kirkwall; 15 homes at Garson in Stromness and four in Westray.
It takes the budget for the programme up to nearly £22 million.
