Digital Forum meets in Kirkwall
The next Orkney Digital Forum meets in the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall, this afternoon, from 1pm.
The forum gives the public a chance to hear a number of presentations covering the challenges and ongoing work to improve broadband services and mobile phone coverage within the county.
The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session, which will give the public an opportunity to raise any questions or concerns.
Invited participants include senior representatives from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, British Telecom, EE and IslesSat.
The forum is hosted by Orkney MSP Liam McArthur and Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael.
Mr McArthur said: “The urgent need for better broadband and mobile phone coverage in our islands is now recognised.
“While investment is being made, local people want reassurance that this will benefit all communities in Orkney. The Digital Forum has been well attended in recent years and offers a chance to discuss these issues with those taking decisions.
“It is open to anyone so please come along to hear about what is going on and make your views known.”
