Disability equality forum — let your voice be heard

Orcrime begins at the Orkney Library and archive today, Thursday.The Scottish Disability Equality Forum (SDEF) is hosting an event in Kirkwall on Wednesday, October 14.

The national membership organisation, works to promote independent living for people affected by disability — and they want to hear your views at the Orkney Library and Archive.

“We represent individuals affected by disability, and organisations and groups who share our values,” they said this week.

“Our aim is to ensure that the voices of people affected by disability are heard and heeded within their own communities and at a national and political level.

“We are holding an event for disabled people to come along and find out more about Scottish Disability Equality Forum and how we can help you get your voice heard in your local community.

“We are keen to hear your views on the following topics: Disability Hate Crime and Reporting, The Scottish Government’s Disability Delivery Plan, Inclusive Communication – what needs to improve?, Transport – Islands issues.
