E.coli 0157 latest

Six cases of e.coli 057 have now been confirmed in Orkney with a further case still being investigated.

One of the patients who was being treated in hospital is now recovering at home.

Dr Louise Wilson, director of public health at NHS Orkney said: “It is encouraging that no further cases have been reported.

“However, the intensive investigation by NHS Orkney and Orkney Islands Council continues and I would emphasise that it is not uncommon that, after testing, other cases could come to light. We are continuing to look for links between the cases.”
