Ewing takes over as cabinet secretary for rural economy and connectivity
Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has this afternoon unveiled the members of the new Scottish Cabinet.
Fergus Ewing is to take up the role of Cabinet Secretary for the rural economy and connectivity, taking over many of responsibilities of former Rural secretary Richard Lochhead, who announced his resignation from office yesterday.
The First Minister said: “We will ensure that the importance of the rural economy is fully reflected in the Scottish Government, with the appointment of Fergus Ewing as Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy and Connectivity, recognising the key challenges faced by the rural economy and the vital importance of transport and broadband links.”
