Eyesight charity to host technology event
Blind and partially sighted people in Orkney will get a chance to find out more about how technology can help them maximise their independence at a drop-in event at the Orkney Library, later this month.
The free Chat and Tech event on October 25 has been organised by national sight loss charity RNIB Scotland. It will take place on a drop-in basis between 11am and 3pm and is open to families and carers of people with sight loss as well.
Mike Holroyd, community coordinator with RNIB Scotland, said: “We want to ensure that blind and partially sighted people throughout Scotland receive appropriate support an information. There are a lot of phone and online services available, but sometimes you just can’t beat a face-to-face chat over a cuppa.
“It will be great to meet folk in person, answer questions and enable people to feel supported. We will also link up with our technology coordinator, who will help us with any questions and information around the various technologies which can assist blind and partially sighted people in everyday life and work”.
While the session will work on a drop-in basis, it would be helpful if anyone attending could contact Mike at mike.holroyd@rnib.org.uk or call him on 0131 378 8927 to let him know.
