First for Orkney production of ‘Les Miserables’
Marking 90 years of opera and musical theatre in Orkney, the latest production from the Kirkwall Amateur Operatic Society (KAOS) takes to the stage tonight, Monday.
After the spectacular success of its last show — Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much-loved musical, Cats — KAOS has spent a year preparing to bring the French Revolution to life with Les Miserables.
The group confirmed that when they were granted the performing rights to stage a full production of the hit musical, this would be the very first time Les Miserables would be performed by an amateur adult group in the UK.
The production, at the Orkney Theatre, runs until Saturday.
