First meeting for Yes Orkney

Yes Orkney, the campaign that will take forward the case for a Yes vote in the 2014 referendum on Scottish Independence, will hold its inaugural meeting  tonight, Tuesday, November 27, in Kirkwall’s St Magnus Centre.

Anyone who has signed the Yes Declaration, or who would like to sign it and support the Yes Scotland campaign in Orkney, is invited to the event.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Jennifer Dempsie, a member of the Yes Scotland team, who will give a presentation on Yes Scotland and the Yes campaign and lead a question-and-answer session.

The campaigners hope that a group can be established on the night that will lead the debate in Orkney on why independence will be a positive move for people in the county, and what shape increased autonomy for the islands might take under an independent Scottish Government.

The meeting takes place at 7pm in the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall.
