Five months in jail for threatening behaviour
A man has been sent to prison for five months after behaving in a threatening or abusive manner earlier this year.
Michael Robert Scott Budge, 24, of Flat 3, 45 Junction Road, Kirkwall, denied the charge, but was found guilty after a trial at Kirkwall Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon.
The court heard that Budge had been outside a house in Kirkwall in the late evening on May 11, where a group of young men were causing a disturbance.
The teenage daughter of the house’s owner had asked the group to leave but when they refused the owner called the police.
At that point Budge threatened him, verbally abused him, and shouted and swore.
Sentencing Budge, and describing the incident as “truly disgraceful”, Sheriff Andrew Berry said: “I conclude, without any hesitation and beyond reasonable doubt, that you are guilty of this charge.”
