Flotta and West Mainland suffer power cuts

Over 800 Orkney residents in the Stenness, Harray, and Dounby areas and on Flotta were without power last night, Wednesday, due to strong winds causing damage to power lines.

750 people were affected in the West Mainland late last night with power fully restored by 4am this morning.

However, 79 homes on Flotta are currently without power this morning, Thursday, as SSE engineers were unable to reach the area. It is now estimated that power will be restored to those homes affected by mid-afternoon today.
