Folk Festival and The Reel miss out on Trad awards

The Orkney Folk Festival and The Reel have missed out on a 2016 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music award.

Hailed by many as the most prestigious awards ceremony in the traditional music calendar, Hands Up for Trad are handing out awards to the best talent in Scottish traditional music at a ceremony in Dundee tonight, Saturday.

The Folk Festival was pipped to the post by Glasgow’s Piping Live for the title of Event of the Year, while The Reel, Kirkwall, lost out to the Glad Cafe, in Glasgow.

At the time of writing, Kris Drever is still in the running for the title of Composer of the Year.
