Football teams beaten home and away
Kirkwall Rovers were beaten 5-1 by Carloway in the quarter-finals of the Highland Amateur Cup, in Maryburgh, earlier this afternoon.
Rovers equalised late in the first half through James Tait, after Carloway had taken the lead midway through the half, but two goals in quick succession at the beginning and end of the second half set up a semi-final clash with Avoch for the Western Isles team.
Also this afternoon, Orkney were beaten 5-2 by Wick Academy in a friendly match, at Pickaquoy.
The Highland League outfit were 5-0 up at half-time but a second half fightback saw the county team score two goals and restored some pride.
