Gathering for a weekend of storytelling
The 2014 Orkney Storytelling Festival is in full swing and playing host to three internationally renowned storytellers.
Taking part in the four-day festival, which began last night, are Liz Weir, from Northern Ireland, Ian Stephen, from the Isle of Lewis, Norwegian storyteller Stina Fagertun.
Organiser Fran Flett Hollinrake said: “It’s always so wonderful to hear a variety of voices, and we are very excited that Liz and Stina are coming, as it will be the first time they have visited Orkney.
“They will be joined in the events by local storytellers, so I expect a lot of story exchanges to be going on, across countries, cultures and traditions!”
The events, which are, according to organisers, suitable for all ages, will be held in a variety of venues across Orkney.
Details of all the events can be found at www.orkneystorytellingfestival.co.uk.
