Girl airlifted to Balfour Hospital

A 12-year-old girl requiring medical attention was airlifted from North Ronaldsay to Kirkwall by coastguard helicopter yesterday afternoon.

Shetland Coastguard confirmed they tasked the helicopter to go to the North Ronaldsay airfield after receiving an emergency call at 5.30pm.

According to a coastguard spokesman the helicopter picked up the girl and transferred her to Kirkwall by 6.20pm when she was taken to the Balfour Hospital.
