It’s all go at the ‘Hope Show

Overall winner of last year’s show was the Horse and Pony Section winner, a two-year-old Highland Pony exhibited by Sarah Campbell. Also pictured is show president for last year and this year Glen Thomson.

The fourth show in Orkney’s shows calendar, the ‘Hope Show, kicks off in St Margaret’s Hope this morning.

The show, Orkney’s oldest, is once again being held in the field beside the Braeburn care facility, in the south of the village. For many years the show had been held in a field nearby the local school but in 2015, due to wet weather and other factors, the decision was made to move the show to the new location.

The show will see the best of the islands’ cattle, sheep, horses, goats, poultry, pets and dogs on display, with judging to commence, with the horse and sheep sections, at 10am. The show’s top prize, the title of Champion of the Yard, will be presented at around 3pm.

The Industrial Show continues to take place in the Hope Community School.
