Rovers beat Stromness recently, courtesy of a last-minute strike in a closely fought 3-2 victory.

The H.I.S Heddle Cup Final is set to take place this evening as Stromness and Rovers prepare to face each other, in what looks set to be, a fascinating encounter. Stromness, still on a high after beating Dounby in the Craigmyle Cup Final last Friday night, will be looking to add more silverware to what has been a hugely successful season. In addition to winning the Craigmyle Cup, they won the OAFA Shield before the season’s start and the Parish side lifted the Parish Cup on County Show night.

However, standing in their path is the formidable sight of Rovers. The Kirkwall side won the ‘A’ League with ease and recently beat the West Mainlanders with a last-minute winner in a 3-2 victory. They will be looking to get their hands on their first piece of cup silverware of the season and have already dispatched of Kirkwall rivals, Hotspurs and Thorfinn, 4-1 and 4-0 respectively to reach this stage. Stromness put five goals past Dounby before going to beat Rendall in the semi-finals, 5-2.

The two sides met in the 2013 final with Rovers winning the Cup with ease in a 5-1 victory.

The match is due to kick off at 6pm at Pickaquoy.
