Happy Valley charity launch in Stenness

The group established to look after the popular Stenness beauty spot, Happy Valley, will be officially launched as a charity this afternoon, when a special event is being held to mark the occasion.

The Friends of Happy Valley was set-up as an informal group in 2007, when a number of people concerned about the future of the site came together.

This followed the creator of Happy Valley, Edwin Harrold’s death in 2007, aged 97, after living at the house their, Bankburn, for 53 years. The group has now been granted official charitable status and has carried out much work on the site.

At the event, being held in the Stenness Hall this afternoon, the Friends are particularly keen to hear from people who may have photos or stories to share relating to Mr Harrold and Happy Valley.
