Have your say on draft planning guide

Orkney Islands Council is seeking views on new planning guidance aimed at ensuring good design in the county’s towns, villages and rural settlements.

The draft supplementary planning guidance titled Development Quality Within Settlements will be published for a six week period of public consultation from November 4.

The document will provide guidance on the range of design considerations which planning applications within Orkney’s settlements should address.

These include the siting of buildings, densities and open space standards, connectivity and landscaping, among other issues.

The draft brief will be available from www.orkney.gov.uk from November 4 and representations can also be made in writing to the council’s planning department or at devplan@orkney.gov.uk
