Have your say on Orkney sports amenities
A strategy for the provision of sports facilities and pitches over the next eight years in Orkney has been published for consultation by Orkney Islands Council until October 7.
The report, by Strategic Leisure, was commissioned by OIC to help guide management, operation and funding and investment decisions. The strategy includes a playing pitch plan for outdoor sports, particularly football, rugby, hockey, cricket and athletics.
It also considers requirements for bowling greens, tennis courts, athletics tracks, artificial grass pitches, golf facilities, and formal “multi-use games areas”.
The strategy is available at www.orkney.gov.uk, and  paper copies for reference are available from Kirkwall and Stromness Community Centres and libraries, Kirkwall and Stromness Swimming Pools, healthy living centres and from customer services at School Place, Kirkwall.
