Hillside Road used as a dumping ground

The OIC’s environmental health team is appealing for information after bags of household waste were illegally dumped in several passing places along Hillside Road, between Evie and Dounby.

It is believed the flytipping occurred between Monday and Wednesday this week.

Orkney Islands Council Environmental Health Manager David Brown said: “This type of behaviour is unusual in Orkney and is it very disappointing that someone has chosen to blight the landscape like this.

“In addition to fortnightly collections for recyclates, there are a number of amenity sites and recycling points where this waste could have been disposed of properly.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this to get in touch with us and provide as much detail as possible to help us find whoever is responsible. It would be useful to know the date, time and location of the incident as well as information about any vehicle used.”
