Injured walker airlifted to hospital

A injured walker was airlifted direct to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after being hurt in a cliff fall at the Brough of Deerness yesterday.

A Coastguard spokesman said that Coastguard Rescue teams from both Kirkwall and St Margaret’s Hope were called out to the incident, which occurred around 5pm.

An Inverness based Coastguard Rescue helicopter was also called in, and the casualty was then airlifted to hospital.

Th extent of the injuries sustained by the casualty were not revealed by the Coastguard.
