Insulation pilot scheme to be launched in Orkney

A pilot scheme, offering interest free loans for solid wall insulation, will take place in Orkney and Fife later this year.

Many homes, particularly those off the gas grid which tend to have higher heating costs, are the so-called “hard to treat” properties.

The pilot will increase the uptake of solid wall insulation while cutting bills, tackling fuel poverty and reducing emissions.

Homeowners in Orkney will be able to access loans of up £15,000 for solid wall insulation, to be paid back over a maximum of ten years.

The pilot scheme will launch in the autumn in Orkney.
