Inter-island concert brings Orkney communities together
A special inter-island concert, promoting the talents of young musicians from the isles, and Orkney music, is to take place this evening, Saturday.
The concert, in the King Street Halls, is the product of a Scotland’s Islands funded project, where workshops took place in seven isles, between September 2011 and February 2012.
The event will be led by Douglas Montgomery and will feature performances by Hadhirgaan; Jack Kirkpatrick and No Soond; Reel Aak; Megan and Aileen Bain; Stronsay’s Silver Darlings; Heather Woodbridge from North Ronaldsay, and Emily Bourne and Jack Kirkpatrick.
All of the acts have isles connections, and will perform sets of their own between performances by those who took part in the isles workshops.
The concert will take place in the King Street Halls on March 17, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
