Exercise Joint Warrior begins on Monday

Between Monday, April 15, and Thursday, April 25, the seas and skies around Orkney will play host to elements of the largest tactically focused military exercise in Europe.

Exercise Joint Warrior is conducted in the spring and autumn of each year and provides training for all three UK armed services as well as visiting units from allied nations.

The exercise will be co-ordinated from HM Naval Base Clyde and feature 60 separate naval unit, operating at points around the coast of Scotland.

Countries set to take part in the maritime part of the exercise include the UK, Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Norway, Denmark, Canada and Sweden.
