Island Games flag bearer and water carrier announced

One of the county’s most successful golfers will carry the Orkney flag at the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Island Games, which are to be held in Bermuda next month.

Stewart Fotheringhame, from Deerness, will act as Orkney’s flag bearer in the Ceremony to be held in the island’s capital Hamilton.

Young swimmer, Eleise Schofield will be Orkney’s water carrier. Each member island is invited to take water from the sea surrounding it, which is then collected and poured into one container at the Opening Ceremony.

Orkney athletes are due to compete in swimming, golf, sailing, athletics, cycling, triathlon and squash at the Games.
