Isles get set to vote by post
Voters in Orkney’s island communities are being reminded to make sure they apply for a postal vote before April 18 for the May 3 Council elections.
Sanday, Stronsay, Eday, Rousay, Egilsay, Wyre, Gairsay, Shapinsay, Hoy & Walls, Flotta and Westray will all join Papay, North Ronldsay and Graemsay in a postal vote system this election.
Voters will need to register to get a postal vote pack and return it to the Orkney Electoral Registration Office by 5pm on April 18 or travel to the Orkney Mainland to vote.
Postal vote application forms were sent to all registered voters in the isles in December. Residents who have returned their postal vote pack do not need to do anything more – but anyone who has misplaced their application form or is not sure if they returned a pack should contact the Electoral Registration Office on 876222 or email ero@orkney.gov.uk .
You can download a postal vote application form from the Council website www.orkney.gov.uk.
