Living with macular disease . . .
A talk aimed at increasing awareness of and supporting people with a type of visual impairment takes place in Kirkwall this afternoon.
The Macular Disease Society (MDS) has organised the talk entitled “Living with Macular Degeneration”, where two representatives will speak about the condition and support available.
Valerie Wares lived in Orkney for 23 years before moving to the mainland. She was diagnosed with macular degeneration in 2003 and now lives in Perth, leading one of the Macular Disease Society’s 240 local support groups. In addition to this, she has recently been appointed as a trustee of the charity.
Anyone affected by macular degeneration, as well as family and friends, is invited to the talk, from 2pm-4pm at the King Street Halls, in Kirkwall.
