Local appeal launched following London tower block fire

A Kirkwall-based removals and haulage company has launched an appeal, after this week’s tragic fire in London.

McAdie & Reeve are asking anyone who may want to donate clothes, shoes, toiletries or anything else that may be of use to the families affected to drop them in at their premises, on Crowness Road, Hatston.

Inga Scholes, Office manager with the company, explained this week that the staff were inspired by a similar effort set up by one of the companies in England that they deal with.

She said the appeal has already had lots of attention, having been launched via Facebook yesterday afternoon, and they have received lots of items.

She said the items collected will be loaded up and taken south at the end of next week.
